Behind the scenes on the set of the latest movie directed by Christopher Nolan, ‘The Odyssey’. 🎬
The Odyssey was shot on real location in remote destinations across 6 countries from Iceland to Greece. 🌍 The set for Troy was built in Morocco at Aït Benhaddou, near the Atlas Mountains, and covered more than 110 000 square feet.
The scenes set in Ithaca were filmed on the Italian island of Favignana at a 15th-century fortress perched more than 1 000 feet above sea level. Italy’s Ministry of Culture would not allow the construction of an access road to the historic site, so the cast and crew had to hike 45 minutes uphill every morning, often in full costume, to reach Odysseus palace.
The production later built an aerial lift and also used helicopters to transport crew, equipment, and supplies more efficiently. The scenes inside the Cyclops Cave were filmed in Nestor’s Cave in Greece, a real cavern inhabited since prehistoric times and long associated with Greek mythology. 📸 Choos...
