#DrDre’s “ZOOM” (Original Version w/ Snoop Dogg) is a lost chapter of West Coast history 🔥 Here’s the original demo of this classic joint featuring Dre and Snoop Dogg on the verses, not LL Cool J. Back in the late 90s, after leaving Death Row, Dre and Snoop locked in for what was supposed to be their reunion album “Break Up to Make Up” (Snoop even announced a July 4, 1998 release date on KROQ). “Zoom” was one of the standout tracks recorded for it. A smooth, funky Dre banger with that signature West Coast bounce. But when Suge Knight caught wind from prison that Dre and Snoop were collaborating again, he blocked it. Death Row refused to clear any Snoop features with Dre. The Dre & Snoop album got shelved. Dre later repurposed the beat for King Tee’s Aftermath project “Thy Kingdom Come” (“6 N’ Na Moe’nin”), but that album also got shelved. We finally got the track on the “Bulworth” soundtrack in 1998 with LL Cool J stepping in. Still, this original Snoop version hits different. ...
