hobie brown | spider punk everything about him is just… cool. the more i learnt about him, the more i realised how intentional everything about him is. they didn’t just design hobie, they made the animation itself rebel. punk has always been about rejecting conformity, questioning authority and refusing to fit into someone else’s mould, so what if the animation itself refused to follow the rules? while every other character moves in sync with the world around them, hobie doesn’t. his body moves at one frame rate, his jacket moves at another and his guitar at another. his outlines don’t even stay in place, his colours flicker and his textures constantly change. it’s like he’s permanently pushing against the world around him. he isn’t clean or polished. he looks like someone raided a stack of old punk magazines, gig posters, newspaper clippings and photocopies, cut them all up with scissors and glued them back together. every frame feels handmade and messy with intention because pu...
