When you lose someone who held a big piece of your heart, the world feels quieter, but it also gets a whole lot louder in the weirdest ways. You start noticing things you used to brush off. Like a song on the radio at the exact right moment (Long Live always seems to come on shuffle when I’m on I-4 heading to Disney), a sudden shift in the color of the sky, hearing a phrase that you haven’t heard in years that catches you off guard.
For a long time, I wondered if I was just making everything I saw up. If I was just desperate to find Taylor in the middle of a world that felt so incredibly empty without her.
