It ranks among the top non-official languages spoken at home in BC and Ontario. Yet recently Calgary Police Service issued a warning in Punjabi: “This is Calgary Police Service, we have a search warrant for your basement, you are considered armed and dangerous, come out of the houses.” This is not from Punjab — this is from Calgary Police in Canada. It’s shameful for our Punjabi community. We are hardworking and law-abiding.
