🦌 Meet Distraído: the first rehabilitated Huemul Deer to return to the wild from the Huemul Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Chile. Last year, Re:wild partner rewildingchile, an offspring organization of tompkins_conservation, this center, a vital step toward recovery for one of the world’s most threatened mammals. Distraído is an adult male Huemul Deer who successfully recovered from a bacterial infection, commonly transmitted to deer from livestock, that required a month of care and treatment at the center. 🏥 Without Rewilding Chile’s intervention, Distraído likely wouldn’t have survived.
