"Despite their massive size, great hammerheads are one of the most docile apex predators I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with. Evolutionary speaking, hammerheads are one of the newest shark species and highly evolved predators. Their large cephalofoil (head) works as an almost radar detecting the faint electronic signatures of rays buried in the sand while also giving them near 360 degree vision. They’re incredibly interesting creatures that play a vital role in helping to regulate marine ecosystems."
