Dorothy's greatest professional achievement was her pioneering work in the use of the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine to treat the lung disease tuberculosis (TB) also known as consumption due to its victims being ‘consumed’ by weight loss and breathlessness.
