At the end of the final season of the hit Korean drama ‘Squid Game’, fans got a surprising tease that many believed was setting up the long-rumored English-language spin-off, thanks to a cameo from Cate Blanchett.
Following the show’s massive success, Netflix was reportedly eager to expand the franchise with a new series. The spin-off was expected to be set in the U.K., with ‘Utopia’ creator Dennis Kelly attached as the writer.
However, when reports surfaced that an English-language version of ‘Squid Game’ was in development, many fans questioned whether it was necessary, arguing that the original series worked perfectly on its own. 🙈
Now, after years of development and several executive changes, it appears Netflix’s priorities have shifted, and the project is no longer in production.
