From an Instagram DM to The Women’s Open 🏌🏼♀️🫱🏼🫲🏽
A few weeks ago, a message landed in my inbox asking if I’d be interested in creating a portrait of the defending AIG Women’s Open champion, Miyu Yamashita.
I said yes before fully appreciating just how many hours it would take.
Fast forward a few weeks of graphite dust, late nights and keeping the project a secret, and I found myself standing at The Women’s Open, handing over the finished portrait in person.
What I loved most about this collaboration was its intention. It wasn’t just about creating a piece of art - it was about exploring a different way to tell the story of women’s golf.
Using creativity to celebrate an athlete, connect with new audiences and show that sport can be experienced through more than just competition.
Seeing the response to the handover has been surreal, and it’s reminded me how powerful it can be when sport and art come together.
