Toyota's new parts strategy will have a direct impact on your service drive. They just announced that Japan's top 7 automakers are collaborating to standardize commodity parts their customers never see. Things like wire harnesses, steel grades, and plastics. The goal is to kill unnecessary complexity in the supply chain. Toyota estimates standardizing just one component, wire harnesses, could improve supplier productivity by a factor of ten.
