Amazon’s Zoox is opening up its next chapter in Austin and Miami, starting with employee rides before moving to a public waitlist. That adds to its footprint in Las Vegas and San Francisco, where its purpose-built, steering wheel-free vehicles have now served 350,000 riders. At the same time, the company is still waiting on federal approval to scale up to 2,500 vehicles for commercial use, and it has not started charging for rides yet. So yes, the footprint is growing. But this is still a buildout, not full arrival. Waymo is already operating at much greater scale, and Zoox knows the climb is long. Watch the full episode at the link in our bio.
