The smartest feature in a Ford vehicle may be the one it didn’t build. Drivers already have preferred apps, saved locations and calendars living on their phones. Making them abandon that ecosystem for another automaker-designed interface creates friction nobody asked for. Ford integrating Apple Maps is a small decision with a much bigger implication: the best in-car technology may be the technology that already fits naturally into someone’s life.
