The U.S. auto market no longer has one center of gravity.
For years, we looked to California for everything. Product trends, consumer demand, the future of retail.
Now, the industry is splitting into two distinct, parallel tracks.
Track 1: California. Still the leader in what's next. EVs, software, design, and regulatory pressure. It's the industry's R&D lab, a testing ground for new ideas.
Track 2: Texas. The new indicator of what's now. Mainstream demand, truck and SUV dominance, and sheer purchasing power. It reflects the profitable core of the U.S. market.
We're seeing this in the numbers: California's retail share has dropped to 11.4%, while Texas has climbed to 10.8%, nearly neck-and-neck.
Dealers must now ask which track their dealership is on. Are your customers early adopters chasing new tech, or are they mainstream buyers focused on utility and value?
