Baseball can be cruel. On Wednesday night, the Hillsboro Hops held an 8-2 lead over the Everett AquaSox at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark going into the eighth inning, only to have the AquaSox rack up seven runs in the eighth and ninth innings to hand the Hops a devastating 8-9 loss on the night. Everett took a one run lead in the second inning with the Hops going ahead in the fourth off a Kenny Castillo double that brought home Carlos Virahonda and Yassel Soler. The Hops extended their lead in the fifth when Slade Caldwell tripled to bring home Jakey Josepha followed by Kayson Cunningham singling to score Caldwell from third. The Hops weren't done in the fifth as Yassel Soler took a 3-2 pitch and sent it off to hit the scoreboard in center field for a three run homer. The Hops added one run in the sixth with a José Mejía sacrifice fly that brought home Jakey Josepha from third base.
