In a landmark lawsuit, indigenous leader Mike Smith took New Zealand’s biggest corporate polluters to court over their climate damage.
The polluters tried to get the case thrown out, but the Supreme Court unanimously ruled it could proceed to trial.
But then, New Zealand’s government introduced an emergency law to retroactively wipe out Mike's lawsuit and ban the public from ever suing big emitters.
