The Nassau County Police Department held a briefing about a police-involved shooting in Westbury last night. Around 11 p.m., two calls came in regarding a man acting irrationally, attempting to stab people with a knife, the commissioner said. The man came running out from behind bushes in a wooded area and smashed the side of a police officer's vehicle, he added. The officer fired shots at the man, who then ran to the rear of the car. Another officer fired at him and the bullet went through one side of the man's face and out the other. The bullet went through one side of his cheek, the commissioner stated. It is unclear when he will be arraigned as he remains under observation at the hospital. A daytime arraignment at the hospital may be possible, he said. More at the link in bio.
