Is Arizona's education crisis really about funding — or something more? Dr. Teresa Reyba Ruiz, the Democratic nominee for Arizona superintendent of public instruction, joined mikebroomhead to discuss her plan to improve Arizona schools, address learning loss and raise academic performance across the state. When asked about states like Mississippi making major gains without massive new funding, Ruiz said money is still part of the equation — but not the only answer. “Money doesn’t solve everything,” drruizforarizona said. “But you get what you pay for." Ruiz also pushed back on what she called a misconception about reading instruction in Arizona schools. “Another misconception is that we don’t teach phonics.
