Since 2020, I’ve had over 1200 creative writing rejections. I submit my creative writing to journals with lower acceptance rates. Journals I continually submit to that keep rejecting me but I’d be so happy to be included in:
Smokelong Quarterly, Adroit, Beloit, Diode, Shore Poetry, Atticus Review, Kenyon Review, JMWW, Glass Poetry, Lily Poetry, Apple Valley Review, Plume Poetry, Fractured Lit, Rhino, Lascaux, and Whale Road Review.
I keep hoping for Best of Net/Pushcart Nomination.
Some dream acceptances I’ve gotten: Autumn Sky Daily, Two Hawks Quarterly, and The Inflectionist Review
But I got an Orison prize nomination, which is great. Winners of the Orison prize include Justin Torres who won a National Book Award and my favorite contemporary poet Leila Chatti.
I started this crazy submission journey while unemployed (I wrote and ‘banked’ a lot of work) and am proud to have kept up with it even with a full-time job.
