On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs held their fifth full-squad practice of training camp, also marking the first padded workout of the summer.
The Chiefs had a day off Sunday before resuming work for the first of six straight days on the field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.
Josh Simmons was a one-on-one standout on day 5 of training camp. Simmons, who has noticeably slimmed up this off season, shared earlier in the offseason he was looking to be a solid 300lbs as they enter the season.
Coming into camp, the prevailing thought was that there would be a three-man battle between Jaylon Moore, Esa Pole and Kahlil Benson for the vacant starting right tackle position.
The value of OL-DL drills is elevated once the pads come on. On Monday, first-round defensive tackle Peter Woods looked the part, splitting his two reps against starting right guard Trey Smith and getting the better of backup interior linemen Mike Caliendo and Hunter Nourzad.
