*NATIVE PLANT OF THE WEEK* Rough-stemmed or Wrinkle-leaf Goldenrod (Solidago rugosa, Zones 4–9) The flowerbuds of rough-stemmed goldenrod produce an attractive, chartreuse haze in advance of it spectacular bright and clear, multibranched yellow flowers, which bloom in late summer to fall. Rough-stemmed goldenrod is native to moist open woods, meadows, and fallow fields and along streams and in swamps in the eastern half of North America, from Newfoundland and Michigan south to Florida and Texas.
