Phoenix Fire was called to the Arizona Canal near 24th Street and Arizona Biltmore Circle around 7:30 a.m. Friday for a water rescue. Crews arrived and found an adult floating in the canal. Fire officials say the person was beyond resuscitation. No identification has been released and there is no word yet on how the person ended up in the water.
