All 40 Flock license plate cameras are coming down in Chandler. The city says an internal audit found an anomaly in how the system was being used, something standard police activity couldn’t explain. Chandler is now investigating whether the system was used inappropriately and whether any discipline is warranted. The city says its initial review found no evidence that any resident or member of the public had their privacy compromised. Chandler will not renew its agreement with Flock for now and says it wants stronger policies in place before it considers plate readers again. The cameras and poles belong to Flock, and the company is taking them down. Chandler started with 14 cameras in a March 2024 pilot and expanded to 40 in May 2025. Residents packed council chambers in May to fight the contract, the renewal vote got tabled twice, and five cameras came down in the Galveston neighborhood in June.
