A witness helped police track down a driver accused of leaving a woman critically injured in west Phoenix. Police say Yamin Nameye, 34, ran a red light near Camelback Road and 43rd Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday and hit a woman crossing with the walk signal before driving away. She remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Another driver called 911, followed the vehicle and gave dispatchers its license plate number. Detectives traced the plate to Nameye, then arrested him Tuesday after watching his apartment complex. Police say debris recovered from the intersection also matched his Kia Sedona. Nameye was booked on felony hit-and-run and a misdemeanor charge connected to causing an accident with injuries. His bond was set at $150,000.
