Police say she jumped the counter at a Mesa bank with a knife in the middle of a Monday afternoon, then hid in a car in the parking lot. Mesa police released the details today. It happened around 12:30 p.m. on July 13 at a bank near Broadway and Greenfield. Officers say a woman armed with a knife came over the counter and threatened a bank employee while demanding money. Several customers and employees were inside and watched it happen. Police say the employee told them he was terrified and believed she was capable of stabbing him. About $3,515 was taken. According to police, 41 year old Leetasha Yazzie was found hiding in a car near the bank. Investigators say she admitted to the robbery during an interview and that a search of the vehicle turned up the stolen money along with other evidence tied to the case.
