A north Phoenix man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he began a relationship with a 15-year-old girl and kept her with him for about a year.
Court records show 26-year-old David Jorge Ruvalcaba was arrested on July 30 and is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, strangulation, conduct with a minor and resisting arrest.
According to investigators, the case began after a 17-year-old girl arrived at a Phoenix hospital, where a forensic exam documented more than 50 injuries. Detectives say the relationship began when she was 15 years old and in the 10th grade. Court documents allege Ruvalcaba convinced her to stay with him, telling her he was already in love with her, and that she eventually lived with him for about a year while being treated as a “housewife.”
