Authorities say a Valley man accused of trafficking fentanyl and meth into rural Arizona and New Mexico was finally arrested after a multi-agency investigation spanning several months. Investigators say Jason Tobey was the primary target of an operation focused on an alleged pipeline moving illegal substances from the Phoenix area into communities including Eagar, Springerville and neighboring Catron County, New Mexico. The investigation began after deputies in New Mexico seized fentanyl during a March arrest, eventually leading investigators back to Phoenix. Using surveillance technology, authorities tracked Tobey from Phoenix back to the Eagar area, where they say he fled from DPS troopers before his vehicle was disabled near the New Mexico border. He was taken into custody and now faces new charges including felony unlawful flight and narcotics possession. The allegations have not been proven in court.
