Old Town Tortilla Factory was supposed to reopen today. Instead it’s gone after 30 years. Back on June 28 the restaurant posted what looked like a routine summer break, closed June 30 through August 2, back on the patio August 3. Half the Valley goes dark for a stretch in July. Nobody thought twice. Then on Friday, three days before the promised reopening, they posted again and this time there was no coming back. It opened in 1996 on East Main Street in the Old Town Arts District, inside a 1930s adobe home. Chad Flaum bought it five years later and steered it through a rough stretch before the Valley Ho and the condo boom filled the neighborhood in around it.
