An 11 day old baby boy was taken from a home in Surprise Friday night. By Saturday morning he was safe, about 200 miles away outside Winslow. Surprise police detectives worked the case overnight and got a statewide alert out with a description of the vehicle. Saturday morning, Navajo County Sheriff’s deputies and Arizona DPS troopers spotted the car near Winslow and made the stop. The baby was unharmed. Deputies fed him a bottle while they waited, and the sheriff’s office posted the photo. He was taken to a medical facility as a precaution and reunited with his mother. Surprise police say the newborn’s father, who does not have custodial rights, took him without permission. He hasn’t been publicly identified and authorities say it’s still too early to know what charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing. Surprise PD’s Lt.
