One question I get asked all the time is, “What did you find most difficult about your Rich House, Poor House experience?” The honest answer… nothing. Not because it wasn’t challenging, but because I grew up on a council estate and saw my mum do everything she could just to make ends meet. As a mum myself, I’ve had times where money was incredibly tight too. When we swapped lives, I didn’t panic. I didn’t feel out of my depth. I just went straight back into survival mode because I’d lived it before. You learn to make every penny count. You become resourceful. You put your children first. And you just get on with it. That experience reminded me how resilient people can be when they’ve had no choice but to adapt. It also reminded me why I work so hard today—to help create opportunities, support others, and make sure my children have choices I never had.
