#Artist365 continues with Resi Ibañez, creating in Studio 329.
Resi Ibañez is the multidimensional artist behind The Crocodile Club, and is a new addition to Western Avenue Studios. Resi is a historian turned writer/artist/bruha. With more than a decade of experience working as a public historian, Resi now sees their art as a way of sharing their own cultural stories, inspired by their experience as a 2nd generation mixed Filipinx queer and trans person.
Every piece Resi makes is heavily imbued with symbolism, magic, and intention. Resi’s work invites the Pacific Islander tradition of talk story: if you want to know the story behind a piece, just ask! Resi’s art practice is a little bit of everything, and they work in painting, illustration, mixed media, fiber crafts, polymer clay and jewelry making. With The Crocodile Club now located at Western Avenue, Resi is looking forward to working on furniture projects as well!
