#BULawProf Shira Diner joined the Massachusetts community yesterday to witness and celebrate massgovernor signing of the PROTECT Act, which expands protections against warrantless civil immigration arrests at courthouses as well as public schools, childcare centers, and healthcare facilities. Diner and BU Law students helped inform the bill through data collection and research.
Diner shares, "Getting this bill passed and signed into law was grassroots effort many years in the making and I’m so glad that BU Law was able to play a part."
Diner shared a photo from the signing, where she took a moment to enjoy the celebration with masscrimdefense Legislative Committee Co-Chair and Attorney Murat Erkan. Erkan drafted part of the courthouse portion of the bill, which was informed by BU Law students' work.
