This is possibly the most famous solar eclipse in history 🌚 🌞 On 29 May 1919, the Sun went dark and Einstein’s theory passed its first real test. Two teams of astronomers travelled to watch the total eclipse, one to Príncipe, off West Africa, one to Sobral in Brazil, to measure how far starlight bent around the Sun. Einstein said gravity would bend it more than Newton’s laws allowed. Only a total eclipse could prove who was right. Now it’s your turn. On 12 August 2026, a total solar eclipse crosses Greenland, Iceland and Spain, the first one visible from mainland Europe since 1999.
