The senior standout registered 47 takeaways, which was the sixth-highest total by a Captain in program history. Additionally, he ranked second on the squad with 57 ground balls, which equaled the third-most by a defenseman in school lore. During the season, Young caused at least one turnover in 21 of his appearances and had two or more on 11 occasions. Stepping up against top-flight competition, he had four takeaways in wins over No. 20 Stevenson on February 25 and No. 11 Lynchburg on April 1.
