Texas Tech GM James Blanchard on how parents are unintentionally sabotaging their son’s future.
He told me one parent once called asking for $2.5 million for their son. Their son was a good player, but it ended the conversation right there because parents aren’t ready to hear why their son isn’t worth that.
He said it’s hard to blame parents because most simply don’t know how the business works.
That’s why that question is always one of his first. The answer usually tells him everything he needs to know.
