Brist McConico is a court services officer and specialty court coordinator in the 3rd Judicial District (Shawnee County), where he works with the district's drug treatment court and veterans treatment court.
Brist works behind the scenes, researching ways to make the district's treatment courts even better for people going through them. He says listening and problem solving are the skills he uses most when helping people through rough times. He added that some people just need to be heard, and others need help changing how they think about or deal with their problems.
The most rewarding part of his job, Brist says, is watching people graduate from the treatment courts.
