Jim Cramer said investors should consider buying SpaceX for their kids. SpaceX is trading near lifetime lows — roughly 51% off its high, IPO'd around $150 and trading near $110 — and today about $101 billion of shares became eligible to trade, more than doubling the public float.
So what does the options market actually think.
Implied volatility sits near 100% in the August cycle, 88% in September, 86% in October, easing toward the high 70s further out. Volume is running hot: 147 million shares two and a half hours in, already near yesterday's full-day total of 200 million.
The more interesting read is skew. Equidistant from the money, the 130 call trades at roughly double the 90 put — $4 against about $8 in September, and $9 against $14 in December. In a stock this far off its high, the market is pricing the big move to the upside, not the downside.
