I am no potty training expert. But I’ve now done it three times, three completely different ways, and I have one strong opinion: follow your kid’s cues. Even when they change daily. Potty training regressions are real and they are brutal and the fastest way to get there is to push before they’re ready. Here’s how it went for us. For Thea, I did all the things. I read the books. Followed the accounts. Talked to every mom friend I had. Bought the potty watch. I was prepared in a way I have never been prepared for anything. We dedicated a long weekend. Naked on day 1 with a potty watch timer going off every 20 minutes. Day 2 was naked only from the waist down with the potty watch timer going off every 60 minutes. Day 3 was dressed normally and listening to her own body. She was 2.5.  For Nathan, also around 2.5, we didn’t have a long weekend.
