🐭 ā€œThe place next door has mice.ā€ Now THIS is a great piece of Southern California theme park history. On January 20, 1980, this Knott’s Berry Farm advertisement appeared in a special Los Angeles Times advertising supplement celebrating Disneyland’s 25th anniversary. Rather than taking a shot at its famous neighbor, Knott’s used the clever headline to congratulate Disneyland, Mickey and Minnie; while recognizing the relationship between two parks that helped shape Southern California tourism. Knott’s was celebrating a milestone of its own in 1980: its 60th anniversary. The ad ends with a great line: ā€œThanks, Disneyland. For a place with mice, you’ve been a truly wonderful neighbor.ā€ Two legendary Southern California parks. Two major anniversaries. And one fantastic advertisement from 1980. šŸ“… January 20, 1980 šŸ“° latimes advertising supplement šŸŽ¢ knottsberryfarm šŸ° disneyland #Disneyland #KnottsBerryFarm #DisneylandHistory #KnottsHistory #ThemeParkHistory
