Vans turned Tatami Mats into Flip Flops 🇯🇵 Vans is putting a Japanese twist on summer footwear with the new V5131 TATAMI COASTAL, a Japan-exclusive sandal that uses authentic materials traditionally found in tatami mats. The footbed is made with Japanese-made tatami-omote, while the tatami-beri-style edging gives the sandals an unmistakably traditional look. Vans also focused on recreating the soft, cushioned feel associated with real tatami, blending Japanese craftsmanship with the brand’s signature casual style. The sandals come in two colorways, Navy/Tatami and Green/Tatami, with matching patterned straps and Vans branding on the footbed.
