Looks great right off the machine, then you touch it and your hand is black. Here's what actually works — no chemicals, no sanding, no damage to the surrounding wood: A plain white magic eraser. Barely damp. That's it. Wipe with the grain, light pressure. The residue lifts off in one pass. The engraving stays crisp — even the fine detail in a script font like this "Phillips" board doesn't get softened or fuzzed out. And you're not putting anything on the wood that'll interfere with food-safe finishing later. Two things I've learned the hard way: 1️⃣ Barely damp, not wet.
