Runners stretch tight calves after every run and stay tight anyway. It was never a flexibility problem, it’s a strength one.
Stretching does one thing: gives the tissue slack for a minute.
It doesn’t build the strength to hold that range, so the tightness is back by mile three.
The fix: load it instead.
1. Single-leg calf raise
→ Trains the soleus, deep in your calf, to hold strength at that stretched length.
The result? Range that’s actually yours to keep, not borrowed for a minute post-run.

Stretching still has a place. Loading is what makes it stick.
