The government in Puerto Rico will begin rationing water this week, cutting service to more than half a million of the island’s residents. The National Guard will help distribute drinking water as the U.S. territory copes with its worst drought in more than a decade.⁠ ⁠ People’s taps will go dry on a schedule — 48 hours with water, then 48 hours without — until reservoirs are restored. But that could be weeks or longer.
