Whaleboats played an important role in USS Constitution’s history. These boats carried supplies and personnel between the ship and shore, and during combat, transported boarding parties to seize enemy vessels. Today, visitors can see USS Constitution’s interpretation of these historic  whaleboats suspended from the ship’s quarter davits, as they would have been during the War of 1812.
