I felt rushed. She said she “wasn’t gonna slate two people.” I felt like she was acting like we were running out of time. Because it was at the end of the opening, I absorbed HER anxious energy as if it were mine. I started feeling anxious and like OMG I couldn’t take up too much space or time, I didn’t want to “cause trouble.” BUT the fact was - her anxiety and frantic energy were NOT mine to absorb. I was in my HEAD with each photographer and NOT OWNING my own moment! I was shrinking when honestly this was my moment to shine. It was not until the last photographer asked me to “c’mon give me some glam” did i realize i was being mediocre. So many of us women raised to be “good” have to learn this same lesson over and over again. I’m sharing as a reminder to ALL of US! 1. don’t let other people’s energy interrupt yours! 2. as a woman living in the patriarchy, always take up MORE SPACE than feels comfortable 3. don’t rush 4. people will treat you how you treat yourself On...
