Today, Japan marks the 81st anniversary since the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and on Thursday the country commemorated the same for Hiroshima. ⁣ ⁣ The 1945 atomic bombings by the United States killed more than 210,000 people, including from the effects of radiation exposure. ⁣ ⁣ The anniversary has sparked discussion from Japanese leaders who are calling for renewed debate on nuclear deterrence. ⁣ ⁣ Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi declined to specify whether she would maintain the current national commitment based on three principles: not to possess, not to produce, and not to allow the introduction of nuclear weapons into Japan. ⁣ ⁣ #Nagasaki #Hiroshima #AtomicBomb #NuclearWeapons
