Fishing a Remote Canyon for Mountain Trout
We left the overland basecamp behind and hiked deep into the Colorado backcountry to find some untouched water! In Part 2 of our Colorado off-grid series, we are exploring a massive, hidden canyon where the mountain views are absolutely unreal and the river is crystal clear.
The warm summer weather made for an incredible hike in, but it also meant we had to get technical to outsmart these mountain trout. I'm breaking down my river strategy as we fish this remote stretch, utilizing some Euro-nymphing techniques to get down deep in the pools, and throwing dry-dropper rigs to trigger aggressive strikes in the shallow riffles. If you love technical fly fishing in stunning locations, this is the adventure for you.
A huge shoutout to Mountain Dew for tasting great since 1948 and partnering with us for this video!
