Pictured with SC Rice Law Dean William Hubbard at the ABA awards ceremony, Childs is a Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Given at the ABA Annual Conference in Chicago this week, the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Awards carry the legacy of Margaret Brent — the first woman lawyer in America. Honorees receiving the award have achieved professional excellence in their field and influenced other woman to pursue legal careers, opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings that historically were closed to them, and/or advanced opportunities for women within a practice area or segment of the profession.
