The first of the Seven World Wonders that we will be visiting as part of the Ultimate World Cruise with @royalcaribbean was Chichén Itzá in Mexico 🇲🇽 I think a lot of people (including myself before visiting) think that this pyramid is called Chichén Itzá. But Chichén Itzá is actually the name of the ancient city. The iconic pyramid is named El Castillo or The Temple of Kukulkan. 🐍 Kukulkan is the feathered serpent that connects the above and underworlds. The feathered serpent was everywhere around Chichén Itzá. It also appears during spring equinox, a very important time for the Mayans, as an optical illusion on the pyramid that looks like a snake descending. While The Temple of Kukulkan is certainly the main attraction, there is actually a ton to see at Chichén Itzá, like the Mayan ballcourt in the video. So plan plenty of time there.
