Have you seen the Panama Canal? What a marvel! 😍 It was a must-see when visiting Panama! 🇵🇦 And we sure did learn a lot. Pictured here are the newest Agua Clara Locks, finished in 2016. The ship you see has been making the long 12-hr journey from the Pacific side. It is about to sit in the lock and wait for the water in the next section to fill up. After, it will go under that bridge you see and ultimately exit into the Atlantic Ocean. While visiting Panama, we also learned some important history - the kind of history that they didnt teach us in the U.S. There is a sensitive history between the U.S. and Panama related to the building and control of the Panama Canal. I encourage you to read up on it prior to visiting.
